Hello everyone! There is SO much to say about the last 4 days that I have been at Point Loma. I honestly don't even know where to begin. God is so good and totally in all of this. So amazing just to see everything unfold the way it has :) A few basics...
First classes were today, Chem and Bio, and both went really well. I really like my chem prof and bio was all review today. I was excited to hear we are dissecting cats because I dissected a cat last year, so that should help. (I even brought some high school notes from my bio and anatomy classes..."You would, Taryn"...I can already hear some of you saying it, so I decided to say it for you lol) Every time I say I am a nursing major, please just sorta look at me and wish me luck. I am a little nervous, but it will be so worth it. It's only 4 years of my entire life and if it's where I am supposed to be, I know I will be able to get through it. If I call you crying because I am overwhelmed, don't be alarmed haha.
It's still so weird to be in a private school where professors can just come out and say they are a Christian. Quick story: During orientation, we had to take a math placement exam and before we took it, the director guy, said "Let's pray." LET'S PRAY?!?! We are at school?!? Oh yeah, I am going to Point Loma now haha. Oh the differences between public and private. We had a sunrise worship service that was really good. Chapel today. Small groups tomorrow....
Roommate is really nice, and we have a lot in common. We keep finding out more and more about how similar we are every time we talk. We also both keep saying how happy we are to be living together. Our dorm feels really homey too so that is nice :) Our whole hall is really cool too. We are already connecting a lot. On our second night here, we went to frozen yogurt and then rang this bell down on Shelter Island (Not really an island, just a beachy sorta place), and then went up on this hill where you can see the whole city and the bay. It was so quiet and peaceful. The RA and her roommate said it's a great place to just have meaningful conversations with friends or spend some quiet time with God. It was just so beautiful up there. We just laid down in the middle of the street like in The Notebook and looked out on the city. Such a fun night with all the girls. We also had to dress up all crazy which was hilarious!
View is amazing. There is this place called the Cliffs that over looks the ocean and you can watch the surfers or the sunsets. Just a place to relax or sit and talk with friends :) Do I have an ocean view? Welllll, If my door is open and the door across from me is open, I do! That's close enough, right? haha.
So much more to talk about, but I feel like I've already written a novel...So....Call or e-mail whenever. Would love to chat and stay connected :)
I love all of you and hope you are doing well. Thank you for pouring into my life, whether for a year or all 18 years, you have helped shaped me into the person I am today. I wouldn't be who I am without your love and support, encouragement, laughter, and even the tears.
Much love,
Taryn
